Il Castello dal Pozzo è una delle location più suggestive dell'area del Lago Maggiore, pur non affacciandosi direttamente sul Lago. Scopriamo insieme tutte le sue caratteristiche.
It is a hundred years old! The castrum, called Q. Legio, from which the name Olegio derives, was renamed, in 1186 Oleggio Castello, in honor of the Visconti building, built around the year 1000.
It was from the shores of Lake Maggiore that the Visconti family, around 1200, moved to the dominion of the Seignory of Milan, assumed from 1277.
In the following centuries, the poorly defended castle, in the absence of its lords, was subjected to multiple attacks, intrusions and fires until it was partially destroyed.
Toward the middle of the 18th century, the descendants of the Visconti, who became d'Aragona by concession of King Ferdinand of Naples in 1462, through the recovery of what were by then the remains of the castle, built a residential palace.
Marquis Alberto Visconti d'Aragona, around 1830, was implicated for his active participation in the Carbonari uprisings and, for that crime sentenced to death and expropriation of property.
The properties passed to his sister, wife of Bonifazio dal Pozzo d'Annone, of Piedmontese origin.
Her son Claudio, a great lover of art and architecture, and particularly interested in the "Gothic Revival" movement of Augustus Pugin, renovated the structure with the help of English architect Richard Poppelwell Pullan, transforming it into a Victorian neo-Gothic castle surrounded by a majestic and impressive park.
Not far away stands the 18th-century Palazzo with its Italianate Garden. The resort structure has recently been enlarged by the addition of the old stables with adjacent farmers' dwellings.
It was here, in the Palazzo, that Alberto, the last descendant of the Visconti of Aragon, lived after being pardoned.
for his participation in the "Carbonari uprisings." Following his death and that of his wife Luigia Monticelli Obizzi, the Palace, in the decades to follow, became a refuge and home for many local families during the succession of World Wars. Later, when Oleggio Castello, breaking away from Paruzzaro, became an autonomous municipality, the Palace, by concession of the Dal Pozzo family, became temporarily, the seat of the local school. It was then abandoned until it became a ruin. It has since been completely renovated and opened to the public since 2010.
Castello dal pozzo together with its 5-star hotel and pool and relaxation area makes a perfect place to hold a wedding.
The proximity to Malpensa Airport makes it very convenient for those arriving from abroad, and its many services in addition to the structure deputed to the wedding helps the client to find every comfort.
The park of the Castle is immense even contains a small lake and a small island, in it you can celebrate your wedding civilly as well as symbolically.
The numerous spaces can allow event planners to have many alternatives both outside and inside.
Even a high number of audiences find space for both outdoor dinner supper in the historic halls and aperitif both outdoors and in the orangery.
The View of the Lake is against the backdrop of an entire natural estate along which the gaze is lost.
It feels like being catapulted into a dimension out of time and space.
Silence and nature are masters, and the castle with its authority imposes a special emotion.
Of course as is fitting the castle possesses its own ghost, Donna Barbara who protects the lovers.
In this wonderful place thirteen years ago I began my adventure in this field. At that time I was dedicated only to floral arrangements, but already clients were asking me for advice on everything. The work of wedding planners was still uncommon, and locations served as a benchmark.
The Castle was a place where weddings always had a fairy tale flavor. It having a very strong personality and a very defined style may either please a lot or not meet everyone's taste.
A wedding at the Castle assumes that the bride wants to infondo feel like a princess.
The spaces are large but still the ability to create an atmosphere is not dispersed.
Wedding style in this Villa.
The Castle lends itself to embracing a rustic style with strong, vivid colors or an elegant style.
I often used baskets with wild plants and set up buffets with fruit and flowers to accentuate that theme related to the medieval banquet.
Burning fireplaces and furnishings particularly inspire my imagination for a Ralph Lauren style winter wedding.
The soft, spontaneous style also blends well, giving the castle a less austere, more bucolic feel.
